"As American Heiress Emma Dunster arrives in London for her first season, the last thing she's looking for is any love life, but that's the first thing she finds. After his nephew is saved by a noblewoman masquerading as a maid, Alex Ridgely is obsessed in finding the woman with the firey red hair that haunts his dreams. Can they start a life together and prove to everyone once and for all that love truly is splendid?"

"Julia Quinn's "Splendid" features Alex Ridgely, the roguish Duke of Ashbourne and Emma Dunster, the flame-haired American beauty who was sent by her father to her cousins' home in London to go "husband-hunting." Emma's father wants his only daughter to settle down and find a husband who can tame his "wild" daughter. And Alex just might be that man; but the stubborn Duke has long held the belief that women only want his title and wealth.

" Emma Dunster, an American from Boston, travels to London for a season with her beloved aunt and cousin. Emma and her cousin, Belle, decide to escape the afternoon of Emma's comeout ball by pretending to be maids in the kitchen, and when Emma volunteers to go out for more eggs, she encounters a little boy about to be hit by a carriage. Emma dives and saves the boy and when she comes to, she finds herself in the company of the handsome Duke of Ashbourne, Alex Ridgely.
Alex thinks Emma is a maid and drops her off where he thinks she works, but the attraction he feels for her makes him decide to accept an invitation he had recieved for a ball to be held their that night. Upon Alex's arrival, he finds that the enchanting maid is actually Emma, the wealthy niece of the Earl of Worth. A bit angered at her deception and foolhardy risks, but still attracted, Alex decides he wants to make a conquest of Emma.
Throughout the season, Alex follows the same rout of balls and parties that Emma goes to, but his attraction turns to something more and he finds himself falling in love, and Emma finds herself with the same feelings. A treacherous nobleman throws a wrench in their relationship with a foul plan to marrying Emma's cousin, Belle, but Emma and Alex's confidence in each other save the day."
