The Drenai people have had their young King slain by an assasin, and have been invaded. Their land is wartorn and roaming bands of raiders slaughter indiscriminately.
Their armies are harried at every turn, and their only hope is a return of the legendary Armour of Bronze, around which to rally their troops.
One man sets off to regain the armour of Bronze from the mountains deep in Nadir territory.
But this man is Waylander, the assasin who slayed the King.

The former farmer, Dakeyras, after the deaths of his wife and son, turns into the deadly assassin. Hunted and despised; Waylander is given the chance to redeem himself. By journeying to the barren lands of the Nadir he is charged to bring back the legendary armour of bronze to aid the Drenai cause......but, can he be trusted for he's the one who killed their King?

Waylander, a vicious assassin, saves a priest who manages to convert him to his old faith. Later, he is persuaded to search for the Armor of Bronze, which can rally the Drenai race before they are exterminated by the Gothir, led by Kaem the Cruel.
