| Plot Summary of The Dawn of Hope: A Memoir of Ravensbruck |
"Re-issued with a new title and cover this is the story of Genevieve de Gaulle Anthonioz, niece of General de Gaulle, who was a World War II French Resistance fighter until she was captured and sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp.
Although since her release she has lead a very active life working for human rights causes, it was fifty years before she felt able to reveal what happened in the death camp. Because of her status she was never intended for the gas chamber, so this is one particular perspective on that camp. It is harrowing to read of these experiences but also interesting to compare with other accounts of ordinary prisoners such as Corrie ten Boom in 'The Hiding Place', who also survived Ravensbruck. These are extraordinary and inspiring stories, both by women lived to tell the tale, how they eventually overcame bodily and emotional sufferings."
