| Plot Summary of A Touch of Frost |
"Dead junkies, missing girls, serial rapists, robberies - it's all go in Denton. And Detective Inspector Jack Frost never stops. Or sleeps. But one by one he gets through them all in his dirty, scruffy, politically incorrect way. Stuff the red tape and paperwork, he's more interested in stopping the crimes."

"It's a busy week for crime in the English country town of Denton where Jack Frost is a CID Inspector. There is a young girl missing, an assault on a woman that looks like the latest in a series of rapes, a mysterious death of a vagrant in a men's toilet, a hit and run in which an elderly man is knocked down and dies, a pawnbroker heist which seems to have lead to the death of a police constable, an armed robbery at a nightclub and a series of robberies in which the latest victim is a moneylender who has had more than seventy gold sovereigns stolen. Frost bumbles through these cases in an on and off fashion as his superior, Superintendent Mullett, takes him off cases which he hands to Detective Inspector Allen only to return them as more important cases come in. By luck, guesswork and deduction it is of course the scruffy, slaphappy (hates paperwork) protagonist who manages to solve most of the cases, and the perpetrators are the most unlikely suspects. "
