"Stephanie Plum needs money desperately, so she convinces her Cousin Vinnie to employ her as a bounty hunter for his bail bonds business, even though Stephanie has no training and was formerly a lingerie buyer. "Stephanie Plum is a woman in her late 20s who suddenly finds herself out of work in the busy city of Trenton. She contacts her cousin Vinnie, a bail bondsman, who hooks her up with a dangerous target - Joe Morelli, a rogue policeman charged with murder and posting a $10,000 reward. However, things aren't so clear cut - Stephanie begins to realize that Joe isn't as guilty as he seems to be. Her search for the truth leads her to the worst parts of town, bringing her into contact with friendly prostitutes and boxers with bad tempers. Things come to a head when a boxer sets his stalker eyes on her - and has a strange connection to the murder case."
Cassandra, Resident Scholar

"In One for the Money, first of a series, Stephanie Plum, the main character is out of work. Her car is getting ready to fall to pieces, and desparate, she seeks her cousin's aid, Vinnie, to put her to work as a bounty hunter. It is a very dangerous job for a girl with no experience whatsoever.

Her first assignment is to nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. There's also a cranky ex-prize fighter dogging her and a nasty habit Stephanie has of leaping first and looking later. If Stephanie doesn't wise up fast, the first dead body in her future could be her own."

Boppy, Resident Scholar

"Stephanie Plum is a new bounty hunter. Low on cash, Plum decides to go after a case worth $10,000. The only problem is that she has no prior experience or knowledge of how to be a bounty hunter. Her first assignment is to catch Joe Morelli, a cop and an old flame of Stephanie's, who has skipped out on bail. Plum's creepy cousin insists that she is taking on too much for a first case but she decides to ignore him and try anyway.

Her first day on the job is hectic and Plum barely has the time to breathe. Snooping around for clues as to where Morelli might be hiding, Stephanie runs into a boxer who becomes angered after her refusal to sleep with him. Not being able to get away from him alone, Morelli appears and saves her from a would be attack. At this point Morelli has practically been dropped into Stephanie's hands, but she is unable to outsmart this ex-cop. Through-out the second half of the book Plum discovers that the real murderer is out roaming the streets. She teams up with Morelli to find the real killer. Together Plum and Morelli rekindle their passion for each other while trying to stay alive. "

"    Since losing her job as a lingerie buyer for E.E. Martin, and trading in all her furniture and appliances for food and electricity, Stephanie Plum needs cash-fast. In desperation, she turns to her sleazy cousin Vinnie for a job. But the only job open is in the field of bounty hunting. Stephanie has no experience, but she's determined not to let that stop her.

So who's her first FTA? None other than Joe Morelli, a former vice cop who happens to have taken Stephanie's virginity behind the eclair case 14 years ago. Morelli also happens to be wanted for murder. While checking out a few leads down on Stark Street, Stephanie has the incredible misfortune of meeting prizefighter Benito “The Champ” Ramirez, a raging lunatic with a penchant for mutilating women, who's decided to make Stephanie his next victim. Ramirez and Stephanie get into a little scuffle, and Stephanie probably would have ended up dead had it not been for her knight in shining armor, Joe Morelli.

Morelli's been dropped right in to Stephanie's lap. But things aren't quite as clear cut as they seem. Soon Stephanie finds herself questioning Morelli's guilt, and, against her best bounty hunter instincts, teams up with Morelli to find the real killer. "
