| Plot Summary of The Hound of the Baskervilles |
"A ghost hound has haunted the Baskerville family since the evil Hugo Baskerville was murdered by it. The locals say it is the devil himself. The case is brought before Sherlock Holmes when the new owner of the ancestral estate is afraid for his life, and he takes it. An investigation proceeds and the mystery is solved by the Brilliant Holmes, with no ghosts to be seen or heard from. The rest, you need to find out for yourself."

"This is classic Sherlock Holmes novel.
When the body of Sir Charles Baskerville is discovered at the grounds of his Devonshire home, his face bore an expression of terror and his body showed signs of exhaustion - as if he had been fleeing something or someone. His friend, Dr James Mortimer, was aware of only one clue as to how he met his death: the discovery of the footprints of a gigantic hound.
A magnificent case for Holmes and Watson, the Hound of the Baskevilles is both atmospheric and intriguing, as well as being one of Conan Doyle's most gripping and disturbing novels."
Paul Antony Hayden, Resident Scholar

"The Hound of the Baskervilles is undoubtedly the finest of the Sherlock Holmes stories. It is a genuine Gothic masterpiece, covering themes of revenge, murder and mystery, set in both the busy London of the late 19th century, and on Dartmoor in Devonshire. The Moor itself plays a vital part in establishing the atmosphere of terror and suspense, within which Holmes and Watson battle to save the life of their client."
Philip Weller, Resident Scholar
