When Richard tries to return to his life, he finds he has ceased to exist: nobody knows him at his office, his girlfriend doesn't recognize him, his ATM card is invalid. Two killer/torturers named Croup and Vandemar are hunting for Door, and as Richard gets sucked into their underworld, he meets all manner of warriors, con people, and even an angel named Islington. Gaiman's tale is imaginative, thrilling, and extremely well done."
