Slowly creating a group of friends, he must find a way to save the underworlders and return to his own life. The problem being, his own life ceases to exist when he enters the underworld, and no one knows how to reverse it. Great book!"

"Richard Mayhew helps a begger on the street and throws his whole life into an alternate London (Below). He is no longer recognized by those he knows. One good deed becomes a desparate fight for survival. "

"Richard Mayhew, a young Scot who has been working in an office in London for three years and dating a rich girl, encounters a wounded girl in the street and decides to help her. "Door," as she is known, turns out to be a magical being from London Below, the rich and dangerous universe of talking creatures, spirits good and evil, and street people that inhabit the London subway system, abandoned tunnels, and other areas below the city. When Richard tries to return to his life, he finds he has ceased to exist: nobody knows him at his office, his girlfriend doesn't recognize him, his ATM card is invalid. Two killer/torturers named Croup and Vandemar are hunting for Door, and as Richard gets sucked into their underworld, he meets all manner of warriors, con people, and even an angel named Islington. Gaiman's tale is imaginative, thrilling, and extremely well done."
David Loftus, Resident Scholar
