In California, Allison Thomas, owner of Decadent Delight, a popular chocolate shop, is known as the original practitioner of chaos theory. When Harry calls her to tell her he sent over Matt Baker to construct shelves, a harried Ali quickly gets out of bed, haggardly dressed, and semi-ready only to have her mom come storming into her house. When Matt arrives to build shelves, Ali's mom asks if he is interested in marrying her daughter and if not perhaps her gay son.
Though she always nurtured losers, Ali finds she is even more deeply attracted than usual to the quiet Matt, who seems to harbor deep nasty secrets that rip up his insides. To his shock and chagrin, Matt cannot just drift away as he has been doing lately because the warmth of Ali has touched him. As love blossoms between them, will Matt listen to his heart or will he flee as he always has done before?
SWEET SUCCESS is a sweet romance that works because of the intriguing lead characters and the eccentric supporting cast, especially mom and her pet pig. Although thin, the story line is fun to read as the amusing exchange between the ensemble will leave the audience smiling and provide author Susan Mallery the sweet smell of success.
