Ever since the car accident left his wife in a state of dementia, Sean Macklin feels mentally and physically exhausted. One day while working on his job as a telephone repairman, Sean overhears a conversation between investment banker Speed Angstrom and a Net guru about a merger. Rather than heed company policy by not listening, Sean obtains details, invests in the discussed stocks, and makes a quick $20,000 profit.
Every since that day, Sean tapes all of Speed's conversations. Currently, Sean knows that Speed is working on a new merger involving ChemTech. He taps into the lines of the ChemTech CEO Robert Brent, hoping to obtain some insider information. Instead, Sean overhears a stunning conversation between Brent and an agent in El Salvador about the regional governor solving a problem by killing thirty or forty locals. Sean pictures his deceased dad telling him to ignore the Central American debacle and not jeopardize his money making scheme. However, Sean cannot ignore what he heard, intercedes, and starts a personal war with Brent.
Reminiscent of the classic “The Conversation” BAD CONNECTION is a unique thriller that will keep readers on the edge throughout the tale. The story line is filled with action as a beleaguered Sean's conscience makes him act. Brent is a wonderful villain who lets the bottom line rule his decisions. Author Michael Ledwidge shows plenty of abilities as he takes readers on a wild tour of New York that will gain him a lot of hard boiled crime fiction fans.
