Plot Summary of An Unwilling Bride
"Beth Armitage is content with her life as a teacher in a school in Regency England, but then she is compelled to marry the heir ot a dukedom to suit the duke's dynastic plans. The heir, Lord Arden, is no more willing than she is. To make matters worse, he is a full-blooded aristocratic male, and she is an early feminist with republican inclinations."
Jo Beverley, Resident Scholar

"Twenty-some years ago, a Dukes wife had a one time affair with an old flame...while her husband was away. She gets pregnant & her husband realizes the child isn't his, but he agrees to raise him as his own. They already have two twin boys, so he already has his heir taken care of. Then tragedy strikes and the twins are killed, leaving only the baby. About this time, the Duke also takes a mistress. She also gives birth to a child of his, a daughter, but he doesn't learn of her existence for over 20 years. This is actually where this novel picks things up. The Duke, seeing a way to keep the bloodline going, through this daughter, hatches a plan to marry HIS daughter to his WIFES son. After all, no one knows this young woman is his daughter."
Kim Mills, Resident Scholar
