| Plot Summary of Born in Death |
"NY police investigator Eve Dallas gets a call of homicide of a woman in the wee hours of the morning. When she arrives in the scene she immediately suspects her fiancee. However when she get to the fiancee's house, she discovers him murdered also. This shifts her investigation to the workplace when she deciphers the victim's phone messages indicating that the victim has discovered fraud in her company. Eve speculates that one of the victim's bosses murdered her and the fiancee to keep quiet about the fraud. But all the bosses have tight alibis and this lets Eve venture into the company's accounts thinking that she can discover what the victims' have discovered. Another investigation she needs to take care of is a request from her friend, Mavis. Mavis' pregnant friend Tandy seems to be missing. Eve thinks that Tandy run away without telling anyone but her apartment tells her differently. Eve begins to suspect that Tandy has been kidnapped especially when she tracks her background and discovers that there are cases in Europe (where Tandy is from) where other single pregnant women has suddenly disappeared without a trace. Eve takes up the challenge of finding Tandy juggling it with solving her homicide case."
