"Link Bowe is gone. He hasn't been seen for several days and since he was a Senator, the whole country is trying to figure out what happened. His wife Madison is very concerned.
Early in the book Jake is called to figure out what is going on with Link. Jake is a former military guy who is now a investigator for a very high politician. Jake is known for solving questions however he needs to solve them. He is told to figure this "Link case" soon.
Jake interviews several people including Madison who believes the watchmen killed her husband. Readers know that Link is dead and that he was shot in the back on his head. Jake finds the body shortly after meeting Madison the fist time. It is headless, but definetely Links.
The story becomes complex. Jake and Madison become lovers, Link is discovered (by Jake, Madison knew) to be gay. Link had a group of guy people that helped him hide is life style.
Finally Jake finds a direction to figure all the odd things that are happening around him and to him while he is asking about this case. He goes to find a box of information that involves even the Vice President. "
