"The Terror is a fast-paced story of the expedition led by Sir John Franklin in 1845 and the fate that may have befallen his crew.
Sir John is confident he will locate the long-sought Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans across the artic. An Esquimaux woman has joined the crew of the HMS Terror when her father or grandfather is killed by crew members. Franklin will not allow the native woman aboard his ship, the HMS Erebus, but Crozier, the captain of the Terror and seond in command to Franklin, agrees to house her on the Terror. The crew is slowly being killed as a huge polar bear type creature stalks the ships and crew when they are beset by ice. They are fozen in place two years due to Franklin's bad decisions, and the beast picks them off one by one. Franklin is killed, their food is toxic and in short supply, the land all around them is solid ice and that ice is slowly crushing the ships. Finally Crozier realizes the remaining crew must leave the ships and strike out across th ice to look for food and rescue. All crew members know the creature is following them as they slowly make their way across the ice pack to King William Land. The men die in a myriad of ways. "
