Plot Summary of Whisper His Name
"Abbie Vayle is a well-off spinster who immerses herself in her bookshop business and in her pursuit of Roman ruins and artifacts. She makes a friend in Hugh Templar, a scholarly bachelor who shares her love for Roman history. Although she is attracted to Hugh, she maintains a platonic relationship with him. In an unforeseen turn of events, Abbie has been suddenly threatened by an unknown assailant named Nemo who wants a certain book from her exchange for her brother's life. Not wanting to risk her family or her friend Hugh, she obeys all the commands of her assailant and goes after Nemo alone. But Hugh decides to poke into Abbie's business and wants to help her. Abbie doesn't want Hugh to help her for fear of risking his life so she lies to him. When Hugh finds out Abbie's betrayal, he becomes angry with her and doesn't want to have anything to do with her. Abbie's plan to save her brother's life is foiled by Hugh and the British Intelligence's involvement. Not wanting to admit defeat, she finally confides to her family, whom readily supports her plans to rescue their family member. But Abbie's assailant turns out to be a legendary assassin who has plans to kill an important official figure and he also seems focus on killing Abbie. Hugh finally finds out the truth about what Abbie is going through when she has been almost killed by Nemo and he decides to help her. He is relieved that Abbie did not betray him after all but furious with her for not running to him for help. Having been a legendary spy during Napoleon time, Hugh is able to solve the puzzle and identify the enemies' plans. For Abbie, he risks everything to save her brother's life and prove to her that he loves her. "
