| Plot Summary of Dark Torment |

"When Sarah Markham accompanies her father onto a slave ship of convicted criminals to get indentured workers for their farm, her life is changed. She sees a young Irish man being beaten to death with a whip, and brings the proceedings to a halt. She insists that her father buy the man, and then takes him back to care for him.
Dominic Gallagher does not want Sarah's help. He hates that he is indebted to her, and lashes out at her every chance he gets. He was wrongly convicted of the crime that he is being punished for, and can think of nothing but gaining his freedom.
His priorities begin to change when he finds himself increadibly attracted to Sarah. They begin to develop a romantic relationship until Dominic is beaten as punishment and left for dead. He wrongly blames Sarah for this, and kidnaps her in retaliation.
Although they are very angry at each other, Sarah and Dominic get to know one another better, and they eventually fall in love. But is Sarah willing to give up her privilaged life in order to be with Dominic? And will Dominic risk his freedom to marry Sarah?"
