Plot Summary of Goodness Has Nothing to Do With It
"Marcus Danvers has gotten his heart broken when the woman who has been his lover betrayed him and his company by selling the company's secrets to a competitor. That has been over 18 months ago and it comes shocking to him to see Veronica Richards again working in Kline Corporation. Kline Corporation has hired him to investigate and catch the person responsible for leaking the company's secrets to other competitors. Marcus initially suspects Veronica when he finds out she's working for the company. He has been angry at her for she has left without saying goodbye to him or explaining her actions to him. This time Marcus will know the truth behind her previous misdeed because despite the hurt she has caused him, she still remains the only woman who has able to capture his heart.
Veronica is shocked to be working with Marcus again. She has also resigned herself with the accusations and taunts that Marcus will shoot her way. Even with his anger and low opinion of her, she still loves Marcus. So when Marcus gives her a chance to explain, she tells him the reason why she has sold his company's secrets. She tells him of her ailing sister how she can't afford her treatment thus pushing her to desperation. When Marcus finally learns what really happened 18 months ago, he forgives Veronica and he is certain that the present espionage is not her doing. But he becomes furious with her when he finds out that he has a son which Veronica has intentionally kept quiet about. He demands that Veronica marries him to give his son a name. Veronica refuses because when she finds out that Marcus is actually investigating for the company and she is one of his suspects, she feels betrayed. Marcus apologizes and tells her that he loves her. Veronica is not convinced especially when she has been fired from her job due to her previous espionage history which she believes only Marcus and her previous boss know. She is angry at Marcus and realizes that it is impossible to have a future together with so much distrust between them. However Marcus tells her that it hasn't been him who ratted on her history and he proves it to her by catching the real culprit.
