Plot Summary of Just Imagine
"At 18, Katherine Louise Weston hunts down Major Baron Nathaniel Cain in New York to kill him and regain back her land, Risen Glory. When she arrives at his house, she has been mistaken for a boy and is sent to work as a stable boy. One evening, Kit decides to execute her plan. But when confronted with Baron, she can't kill him. Baron is surprised to find that Kit is actually a girl. However with her unrefined and hoydenish ways, he has no interest on her. When his lawyer reveals to him that his mother, who has happened to marry Kit's father, has died and left him Risen Glory and the guardianship of Kit he is outraged. He never has any good feelings toward his mother and he never wants to own a plantation and much more to be a guardian over a tomboy. But seeing that Kit is passionate about Risen Glory, he deals with her – she attends finishing school for 3 years then they can talk about her getting the plantation.
3 years later, Kit returns to Risen Glory amazed by the changes. She still hates Baron but their first encounter after so many years produce a sizzling attraction between them. Baron is shocked to find a great beauty in Kit. He has trouble getting her out of his mind. Despite the physical changes, Kit still remains to be straightforward and opinionated. She plans to marry quickly to get her hands on her trust fund so she can buy the land from Baron. But being her guardian, Baron disapproves of Kit's chosen fiancée. Truthfully, he wants her for himself and he can't fight the attraction any longer. Kit is enraged when Baron refuses her choice of mate and is going to send her away to New York. Seeking revenge, she sets fire to the cotton mill knowing that Baron has no means of getting it repaired as he is tight on money. When Baron finds out that she sets the fire, he is hurt and feels betrayed. Just when he lets himself become vulnerable to a woman for the first time, he is shown that women can't be trusted. He forces Kit to marry him so that he can use her trust fund to start repairing the cotton mill. Despite a rocky marriage, they can't deny the passion between them. They exist as enemies during the day but lovers during night until Baron can't take the animosity between them any longer and leaves her and the plantation to her. Kit suddenly realizes that she loves Baron all along. Now it's too late to tell him because he is gone leaving her pregnant. After giving birth, Kit decides to go after Baron and fight for their marriage. "
