Plot Summary of One Man's Love
"As a child, Alec Landers, roamed the Scottish Highlands where his grandfather, Niall MacRae, served as laird of the entire MacRae clan. Of mixed English/Scottish heritage, Alec has returned to his mother's birthplace. In Scotland, Alec was known as Ian MacRae in honor of his Highland heritage. While staying in the Highlands with his mother Moira one summer young Ian loves a local girl, Leitis MacRae, a member of his clan. The summer idyll is shattered when Ian's mother is brutally murdered and raped by a rival clan. Ian vows that he will return to his English roots and deny his Scottish heritage.
Years have passed and now Alec is a colonel in the British army. The Duke of Cumberland has ordered Alec to travel to the Highlands and forge a peace among its people. As Alec returns to the place of his mother's birth he decides that he will keep his identity as Ian MacRae a secret, not only from the Duke but also from his own MacRae clan members. Once in the Highlands Alec comes face to face with the spirited beauty who once captured his youthful fancy - Leitis MacRae. Alec is mesmerized by Leitis' beauty, although Leitis cannot stand the sight of her enemy, the British colonel. Although she despises Alec on sight, Leitis cannot rid herself of the feeling that she knows Alec Landers. Rather than being brutal and cruel as other soldiers she has known, Leitis sees only kindness and warmth within Alec. Moved by injustices against his people, Alec takes on the persona of the Raven, an outlaw who fights against the British and supports the rights of Highlanders. As danger looms and passion ignites between Alec and Leitis, Alec must fight to hold onto his budding romance with Leitis as his hidden identity is revealed."
