Plot Summary of Truly A Wife
"    Daniel, ninth Duke of Sussex, is a government agent belonging to the Free Fellow League, a group of gentlemen dedicated to obtaining war information against Napoleon. On a mission of smuggling dispatches from France to England, Daniel is shot, but it is imperative that he return home and attend his annual gala or his cover will be blown. Daniel has his side stitched, drinks alot of bourbon and makes his way to the ball.
Miranda St. Germaine has always been secretly in love with Daniel, even though years earlier he broke off their courtship and declared he wasn't ready for marriage. Daniel's mother, the Duchess, is highly opposed to Miranda, and has made it clear she does not approve her to be anywhere near her son, so when Miranda crashes the ball, the Duchess is furious. Daniel arrives in time to escort Miranda into a dance, but as they begin to waltz, Daniel confesses he is gravely hurt and asks Miranda to help him outside.
As the couple make their way outside, Daniel's stitches rip open and he bleeds all over himself and Miranda. He pleads to her not to let anyone know of his injury and asks her to help him hide so he may recover. The couple is spotted, and to do damage control, Daniel secretly marries Miranda before passing out, leaving Miranda to hide and care for him.
After tending to his wounds, Daniel wakes up and remembers nothing of their secret marriage. Miranda lies, and says nothing untoward happened during the night, but she soon realizes she is going to have to tell him what truly happened while he was drunk and injured. Especially after the couple let their hormones take over and make passionate love.
As the couple, fight they're way through misunderstandings, a double agent in the Free Fellows organization threatens there safety, and there night alone becomes revealed, leaving danger and scandal for them to fight."
