| Plot Summary of A Catskill Eagle |
" Spencer is an ex-cop turned private eye who helps out people in need.
Spencer lives in Boston, where he receives a letter from his girlfriend Susan Silverman, a psychologist. The letter tells Spencer his friend Hawk (a large tough black man with a piercing gaze and total loyalty to Susan) has been arrested and held in a small town in California. Unbeknownst to Spencer, Hawk had gone west to help Susan out of a jam. He got into one himself. Susan had been living with another man, but had decided to end it. He was preventing her from leaving, so she needed Hawk's help. Unfortunately Hawk ran into some thugs from Susan's boyfriend.
Now Spencer has to go out to California to bust him out of jail, which he does by getting himself arrested for vagrancy and sneaking in a gun to the jail. Spencer and Hawk now have to track down Susan. Her boyfriend Russell is the son of a multi-millionaire who owns lots of property and lots of thugs. And since they're in the arms business, they also have lots of guns. How can two men hope to rescue her from such an arsenal and where do they start looking. The trail takes them from California to the Cascade Mountains in Washington to Connecticut to Boston and back to Idaho. Spencer and Hawk leave havoc in their wake as they track down Susan, causing thugs to follow them at every turn. Boston police and FBI put them in a safe house until they rescue Susan and take down the patriarch Jerry, who the FBI has wanted busted for a long time. Can they do it without getting killed themselves?
