| Plot Summary of The Dream Years |
"It's wintertime in Paris in the 1920's, shortly after the First World War. Robert St. Onge is a young novelist caught up in the excitement of a new artistic movement, Surrealism. The book talks about his friends, all with their own passions, problems and dreams, but all quite devoted to these new ideas of expressing the subconscious in art and literature. Robert doesn't have a 'real' job and he doesn't really care about money and his family's business. He is writing a novel, and doesn't always agree with Andre, his best friend and a real leader in the Surrealist movement.
One day, Robert meets a dark-haired, beautiful woman who leads him into an amazing place - it's actually the same Paris, but in the future- May, 1968,- where a revolution is underway, also by young dreamers, who want to change the world. Robert actually sees and experiences how the visions the Surrealists have can be more than just ideas! He falls in love with the woman, Solange, and together they discover how powerful the imagination can be.
