Plot Summary of The Code of Buddyhood
"In college, Bobby becomes friends with Mark through a shared love of the same music. Over time, Bobby becomes aware that Mark is not that nice of a guy, but tolerates it, hoping Mark will come to appreciate their friendship. Mark leads Bobby into dangerous situations such as crashing a frat party and almost getting beat up, and stealing a cadaver that belongs to the college, but Bobby is also to blame by going along with the schemes.

Just before Mark and Bobby's musical audition for which they have been practicing for some time, Mark betrays Bobby in a big way, and they go their separate ways.

After college, Bobby becomes a psychiatrist. He also marries a female he met in college. One night they go to a party to which neither wanted to go, and they come home frazzled. Unfortunately, that night Mark has decided to pay them a visit, and is inside their house with their 4-year-old little girl on his lap, having let the babysitter go home. Bobby and Mark talk, and Bobby agrees to let Mark spend a week at his house.

Once again, Mark begins to drag Bobby into trouble. For example, Mark ruins a croquet party that Bobby held for his boss. Also, in the clinic where Bobby works, Mark gains access to a confidential patient file by saying Bobby gave him authorization. This is a lie and could have cost Bobby his job. Bobby's wife tries to tell him the truth about Mark and gives him sensible advice, but Bobby is too stubborn to heed or even acknowledge it.
