Plot Summary of That Burke Man
" In the beginning, Todd Burke and his daughter are at a horse competition that Cherry, the daughter, is in. While she is competing he hears a woman criticize Cherry. He confronts her and they get into an argument. He tells her that she shouldn't criticize people that are actually competing and that she didn't look like someone who knew anything about barrel racing anyway. She ignores him and tries to get on a horse, which is a difficult task because she's crippled and she has a bad back because of an accident. She gets on anyway and they announce her as Jane Parker, who's a two- time world's champion barrel-racer. She accepts a plaque on behalf of her dead father, who was a great rider and goes back to try to get off her horse, but she can't. Todd teases her about not being able to ride well and then one of her friends explain to him about the back brace she is wearing. Todd feels like a complete jerk and helps her down and carries her to her trailer.
Todd finds out that Jane needs a business manager, so he volunteers and tries to help pick the farm back up out of pity because she's disabled. In return, she volunteers to try to help Cherry become better at barrel racing. She thinks Todd is a simple accountant, but Todd doesn't tell her he's the chief executive officer and president of Burke-Hathaway. Love starts to blossom between Todd and Jane, but that comes to a halt when his ex-wife comes back. She leaks to Jane that Todd is a multimillionaire and she puts ideas in Jane's head that Jane isn't good enough for him and she starts to believe it. She breaks it off with Todd, but Cherry has a plan to keep them together. "
