| Plot Summary of Kiss Mommy Goodbye |
"When Donna meets Victor, an attractive, successful man who sweeps her off her feet, she finds his take-charge attitude exciting. After just two months, he asks her to marry him, and she says yes. However, this is the night they have their first argument. She finds out that he has lied to her about significant things. But after he cries and apologizes, she has mixed feelings about him, so she goes ahead with the wedding.
Once married, Donna and Victor argue a lot, and according to Donna, their arguments are always about things she considers trivial. Donna comes to realize that Victor's take-charge attitude that she admired actually means that Victor is very controlling, and after six years she becomes tired of being controlled. When she finally asks Victor for a divorce, he tells her that she will not take their son away from him. Donna stays with Victor, but begins to act erratically, such as getting up and cleaning the house in the middle of the night.
After a while Donna meets someone else, Mel, who gives her emotional support and helps her gain the courage to leave Victor. Victor tries to reconcile with Donna, but finally gives up and files for divorce. In court, Donna wins custody of the children, but Victor gets visitation. In the following months, Victor seems to become more accepting of the situation, but it's a front for what he really has in mind – stealing the children. He doesn't bring the children back from a weekend visit, and Donna goes to the police. They tell her that Victor could have taken the children anywhere so there is really not much they can do. Donna and Mel are left to find the children on their own, if they can."
