Plot Summary of The Island
"Beth Anderson is on a fun filled boating weekend away with her niece, brother and her niece's friend. They have traveled out to Calliope Key where they have camped and explored before. Before too long they are joined by strangers as well as people from the yacht club where Beth works and Ben is a member. While out exploring the younger girls and Beth find what Beth is convinced is a skull. She hides it when one of the strangers, Keith Henson, arrives. But, when she goes back to show it to her brother later it is gone. Everyone starts to think Beth has imagined things, everyone but Keith who is in the area investigating the death of divers.

Keith offers to help keep Beth safe but she is wondering if he is the one who has taken the skull. When Beth gets back to her job on Monday she starts to ask questions about a couple who had disappeared a few months earlier. Beth is convinced that the skull she found was one of the missing couples. Keith and his partners have also shown up at the Yacht Club, and while Beth is attracted to Keith can't seem to trust him. The more questions Beth asks, the more strange things seem to happen. Beth has someone scare her by leaving a skull on her desk, throwing a dead cat on her porch and knocking out her brother. Was the skull real and if so how did it get to the island? The remainder of the story revolves around solving this mystery.
