"Serena Staverley was informed that her father had tragically killed himself after losing his property and her hand in marriage in a game of cards to the evil Lord Wrotham. Nicolas, Serena's cousin, witnessed her father death and how fate took another ill turn when what he had just lost now fell into the hand of the new winner, the infamous Lord Justin Vulcan.
Worried about Serena's future, Nicolas proposed marriage and to run away with her. However, runing meant dishonoring her family, so Serena chose to ready herself for what laid ahead.
Lord Vulcan never expected that the poor girl, who he had saved merely out of his pity, turned out to be a stunning beautiful young lady who was getting under his skin from the very first moment he saw her."
