| Plot Summary of The Secret History of the Pink Carnation |
"Eloise Kelly, a young student working on her Phd dissertation, is visiting England to assertain the true identity of the "Pink Carnation", a fictional spy during the reign of Napolean Bonaparte. While searching through the journals of the "Purple Gentian", another fictional spy of the same time period, she is drawn into the personal story of Amy Balcourt, an aquaintance of the "Purple Gentian". The story then follows the story of Ms. Balcourt, a young woman who returns to France after her father has been killed by Napolean seeking revenge through joining the "League of the Purple Gentian". While attempting to discover the identity of the "Purple Gentian" Amy falls in love with Lord Richard Selweck who is infact the "Purple Gentian". After discovering that the man she has fallen in love with and the "Purple Gentian" are the same person she must save him from execution and put a stop to Napoleans pland to invade England all in the same night.
