Plot Summary of My Enemy the Queen
"Lettice is the fairest of them all. To herself, at least. From the time she was a little girl, she was told stories of her cousin who would be Queen, the great Elizabeth of England. Much of England's volatile history is wrapped up in Lettice's family, and to be in the good favor of the Queen is a must.

When Elizabeth ascends the throne, Lettice finds herself a young and beautiful noblewoman caught up in the enchantment of Court. Even though she marries well, she is unhappy that the fairest man at court, the impeccable Robert Dudley, only has eyes for the Queen. The Queen refuses to marry him, and his frustration grows until he finally shifts his eyes to the young, beautiful and confident Lettice.

Between the mysterious death of Robert's first wife, the refusal of the Queen to marry him, and his fiery affair with Lettice, the throne of England rests on the lust for power shared by these three main characters. Lettice outlives Robert and Elizabeth, and is left only with the memories of a tumultuous affair to make her happy."
