| Plot Summary of Gift Horse |

" When Sam rescues a draft horse from the auction, she feels great. But her father is set on having no more horses, mustangs or not, and she takes full responsibility. As she runs around, trying to find a good owner of the gentle horse, a mysterious thing is upsettting all the animals, and everyone is mystified. Winter is harsh and the mustangs have very little food. Sam immediately sets up an idea for that problem.
What Sam dreads above all is speaking in front of the school Student Council to present her commmunity project. She has a great idea, and it just might help the mustangs. With the help of Jake Ely and the powerful draft horse, she sets up her community plan to help save the Phantom from a cold death. "
