| Plot Summary of Puppet |
"Amanda Travis is a criminal lawyer living in Florida. She has a fairly lucrative lifestyle and has no problem finding lovers, although falling in love is another story. Not that she really cares; she is fine with her life the way it is. She already has 2 ex-husbands.
Then repeated calls from her first husband, Ben, in Toronto, change things. He tells her that her mother has shot a man in the lobby of a big hotel. Amanda is estranged from her mother; she has been anything but a good mother to Amanda, so why should Amanda help her now?
But something does make her finally decide to go to Toronto and she gets involved in helping Ben try to find out why her mother killed this man and why she won't talk about it. In fact, she just wants to plead guilty and take the consequences.
Not only does Amanda find out why her mother killed this man, but she also finds out what made her mother so depressed and indifferent towards Amanda as she was growing up."
