Plot Summary of The Black Rose
"In England in 1810 Tess Leighton is the owner of small inn in Rye. Due to financial trouble she is at risk of losing her family estate. Determined to save it she puts herself into danger masquerading as the Fox, an infamous smuggler of the time who plunders the rich and gives to the poor.

Viscount Dane Ravenshurst is sent to catch the infamous Fox as there are strong suspicions that he is a traitor and a spy. What he finds in the Sussex coast is Tess, the woman who haunts his troubled dreams, the woman he once loved and who would have been his wife by now if not for her past betrayal. During one of her masquerades as Fox he saves her life and discovers her dangerous secret. "
