Plot Summary of Slaves of Obsession
"

Anne Perry goes abroad in this one! In “Slaves of Obsession,” British bestseller Perry
takes her formidable duo--William and Hester Monk--to American shores, just in time for
the Civil War. It is 1861 and they are in America tracking down a killer and, naturally,
before they know it, they are involved in local politics, as it were. Extortion and murder
are teammates in this book and the Monks find that it is no simple matter. Combining
history with much social significance and relevance, Perry is quite adept at capturing the
horrors, the carnage, the butchery of our Civil War. Hester, one will remember, was a
nurse in the Crimea and readily works with the medical team at Manassas while William is
searching for the killer, certainly connected to arms shipments and the War itself. In the
finale of the book (the sixth of the series)--back in a London courtroom, we see Perry at her
best--and this conclusion is not to be missed!"
