Plot Summary of Kung Fu High School
"Some schools establish their pecking order by looks, some by brains, and still others by economics. In the world of Kung Fu High School, the social hierarchy is determined by one attribute--fighting prowess.

The story is narrated by Jen, younger sister of the leader of the school's most powerful Family. Jen and her brother Cue both attend Martin Luther King High School, better known by it's rather derisive moniker of Kung-Fu. The entire school is a front for a drug-lord named Ridley, who controls several of the Families, the police, and the principal.

Jen and her brother's Family are one of the two who aren't working for Ridley. So, naturally, Ridley concocts a scheme to eliminate both of his rivals, allowing his drug trade to go on unrestricted. Ridley crafts his plan with the care of a sculptor, but there is one factor that he negelects to take into account: the legendary Jimmy Chang.

Jimmy Chang is Jen's cousin, and pseudo-Oedipal love interest. He is a martial arts legend, but refuses to fight when he transfers to Kung-Fu, honoring a promise he made to his mother. During his brutal initiation into the school, he refuses to fight back, and Cue is forced to step in to keep his cousin from being beaten to death.
