| Plot Summary of Golf In The Kingdom |
"This fictional and wildly fanciful story is about when author Michael Murphy was transformed in the 1950's when he was introduced to a philosophical Scottish golf instructor and caddy named Shivas Irons. He meets the enigmatic man by chance while playing at a course called Burningbush golf links in Fife, Scotland. They walk through a round of golf with Murphy as the apt pupil and Irons as the sage instructor. What Murphy learns over the course of their 18 holes together is as much about the deeper meaning of life as it is about golf.
The men get rip roaring drunk afterward and they wax philosophic about the spirituality of life through golf. Murphy now views things around him through different eyes, able to put the world in a golf perspective and golf in a worldly perspective. "
