Plot Summary of Pure Fiction
"When the local library organizes a reading group househusband Ed is the first to join up. Ed stays at home with infant daughter Georgia while his wife Bernice works. Ed suspects that Bernice is carrying on an affair with her boss due to her strange hours and her increasing indifference to their family unit. Kate, a 42 year old furniture restorer with her own shop has a major crush on Ed. Kate has a teenage daughter who is going through the difficult teenage years and giving her mother an extremely hard time. As Ed and Kate begin spending more time together they can no longer deny their romantic attraction. Although Ed is almost ten years younger than Kate and married, he can't help but be tempted to begin an affair with dazzling Kate. Donna, a 21 year old mother of two boys is seeking to further her education and create a life for herself. Unfortunately, things take a downward turn when Donna becomes pregnant by her married lover. Bob, a flooring specialist in his late fifties is the most uncomplicated member of the group. He is heading towards retirement and has joined the group at his wife's urging due to his love of reading. Zoe suffers from low self esteem and is having an affair with Ross, a member of Parliament who is married. Ross likes to engage in menage a trois and doesn't hesitate to get rough with Zoe in order to get what he wants. It is Zoe who introduces her friend Gideon to the reading group. Gideon is a pseudo-intellectual whose pompous nature threatens to change the group's dynamics and expose deeply held secrets."
