Plot Summary of Passport Diaries
"African american assistant D.A. Kia Carson is setting off on a European adventure after being suspended for six weeks by her boss, the D.A. Although Kia has always dreamed of jetting off to Europe on vacation, she never quite imagined that she would be flying solo. Kia's younger sister Diane plans to make the trip with Kia, but when she discovers she is expecting a baby she backs out of the trip. Although Kia has been having an on again off again relationship with Flash, she realizes that their relationship has turned into nothing more than meaningless sex. Although Kia is attracted to her white colleague, Drew, she isn't sure if she's ready for an interracial romance. On the advice of her best friend, Maya, Kia plans to have the adventure of her life and celebrate her 35th birthday in Paris. Upon arriving in London, Kia meets a handsome dreadlocked man named Derrick Cummings. Much to Kia's chagrin, Derrick has a fiancee, Rita. Kia is a bit shocked when Derrick and Rita make a play for a menage a trois. Although Kia is curious, things don't go very far when Derrick and Rita erupt into an jealous argument over Kia. When Kia arrives in Paris she finds the city enchanting and stimulating. Kia meets up with handsome frenchman, Phillipe, and has an intimate dinner with him at a fabulous french restaurant. Out of the blue, Kia's ex boyfriend, Flash, shows up in Paris, much to Kia's chagrin. Although Kia appreciates Flash's gesture of flying across the globe to see her, Kia realizes that they have outgrown each other. When Kia arrives in Greece she summons the courage to sunbathe and swim topless. The experience totally invigorates Kia until she is approached on the beach by her smiling co-worker, Drew. "
