Plot Summary of Babylon Sisters
"Catherine Sanderson is a 38 year old single mother raising a teenage daughter named Phoebe. Catherine's work as a liason for immigrant women seeking employment is enriching and positive. Catherine has just entered into a business arrangement with Ezola Mandeville, a successful black businesswoman who runs Mandeville Maid Services. Ezola has engaged Catherine's services to attract immigrant women to maid positions. The one problem on Catherine's horizon is the constant questions hurled at her by Phoebe regarding the identity of her father. Catherine has lied to Phoebe and told her that she was leading a promiscuous lifestyle at the time she was conceived and that she doesn't know the father's identity. In reality, Catherine knows exactly who Phoebe's father is - her college sweetheart, B.J. Johnson. When Catherine told B.J. that she was pregnant with his child and planning to have an abortion, B.J. took off for Ghana rather than deal with the pregnancy/abortion issue. When Catherine decided to go ahed with the pregnancy she never notified B.J. of her decision. Now, 17 years later, Phoebe is seeking answers regarding her paternity and refusing to talk to Catherine until she gets answers. Suddenly, B.J., now a successful journalist, shows up in Atlanta seeking assistance from Catherine. B.J. is writing a feature regarding an Atlanta slave ring and he desperately needs Catherine's help in reaching out to the immigrant women in the community. Suddenly, Catherine is faced with her worse nightmare as she prepares to tell B.J. that he is a father and confess to Phoebe that she has known all along her father's identity. Catherine's worlds collide when B.J.'s investigation into the slavery ring has connections with her new business parnter, Miss Mandeville."
