"Regina Burns is attempting to rebuild her life after emerging from a successful rehab center for drug addiction. Regina's first step is to earn enough money to stop foreclosure proceedings on her family home, which she borrowed against during her drug addled period. Regina has entered into an agreement with her banker that allows her a 60 day period in order to come up with the money to pay her debts and save her home. When Regina receives a job offer from her previous employer, Beth Davis, a motivational speaker, she is torn between accepting and rejecting the offer. Regina has major issues with Beth Davis, who was both an inspiration and a thorn in Regina's side. Although Regina was at Beth's side as she gained notoreity and built her huge fan base, Regina cannot forget that it was Beth who stood in the way of her personal happiness.
Years ago Regina fell in love with Beth's son, named Son, and they planned to marry. Beth, who felt no one was good enough for her only child, objected to the marriage, which Son called off. Regina was shattered by the breakup with Son and left Atlanta for Washington, D.C., only to fall headlong into a cocaine habit. Son's death on 9/11 was the catalyst for Regina's rehabilitation. Although Regina has reservations, she makes the decision to go to Atlanta and accept the temporary position as a consultant. Prior to leaving D.C., Regina's Aunt Abbie (who has occasional psychic visions) advises her that she will meet a man with eyes like the ocean. Regina scoffs off her Aunt's words. Shortly after arriving in Atlanta, Regina meets the dynamic Blue Hamilton, the owner of the building where she will be living in during her stay in Atlanta. Blue is an enigmatic man, a former singer with startling blue eyes just as Aunt Abbie has predicted. Regina and Blue share a sizzling attraction, one that neither of them can ignore. It isn't long before Regina comes to the realization that Blue has a tremendous hold on the neighborhood and its citizens. Why is Blue's block so crime free when all the neighboring streets are rife with violence and mayhem?
As Regina immerses herself headlong into Beth's project (which revolves around the donation of her son's papers to Morehouse College), she discovers startling secrets about her son's life and explosive secrets he was harboring from his mother. As Regina's feelings for Blue intensify, the danger of the streets rises up as Blue's deadly enemy.
