"Susannah Redmon is a Plain Jane living in the Carolina Colonies in 1769. Adored by all in her community for her skills as a healer, Susannah has never known the love or attention of a man. Determined to see her family's farm prosper, Susannah shocks her preacher father and her three sisters by deciding to buy a man, a hired slave in fact. Enter the Marquis of Derne, Ian Connelly, a man who has been betrayed and accused of being a criminal. Beaten and forced to become an indentured servant, the Marquis is transported to the Carolina Colonies and put up for sale on the auction block.
