Plot Summary of The Last Crawford Bachelor
"Dani Langston came to Wichita Falls to find her grandmother. When she got to the Circle K Ranch she was immediately welcomed by Abby and her sisters even though the old woman had been dead for 7 years and everyone thought she had been childless. Dani was invited to rent the guest house with Abby's brother in law, Michael who works with Dani, and moved in but a while later when Abby wanted to talk to some of her Grandmothers friends Dani felt betrayed and moved back into town.

In the mean while, Michael is posing as Dani's fiancée to keep their harassing boss from making passes at her and every now and then sharing public kisses to keep up the story. Abby and her sisters find out that Dani was completely honest and their Grandmother did have a baby out of wedlock that she gave up for adoption. Dani agrees to meet them for lunch and they offer her a portion of money from their inheritance but Dani refuses it and walks out of the restaurant. When Michael learns this after talking to Abby, he approaches Dani to come to the ranch with him to let sensitive Abby know their is no hatred on her side.

Their housekeeper and cook falls and is rushed to the hospital for surgery and Dani and Michael take care of the house and kids while they are there. Dani moves back in again to help with the cooking, cleaning and laundry. After living for so long taking care of herself, it is nice to be able to feel a part of a family and be able to care for and take care of others. Michael is continually being pulling in two directions. He has always been the one to avoid relationships. He is working on building his career right now and not looking for a wife but Dani is proving to have the same types of excuses for not wanting marriage and family and he doesn't like the excuses coming from her. He sees she is working to hard at work and at the ranch and invites to a quiet dinner at his place.

He is hoping to spend an enjoyable evening together and see where it leads as he is getting used to the office kisses and would like it to develop into something more than a pretend relationship. After a candlelit dinner, while watching a movie together Dani realizes she has fallen in love with Michael and runs out on him up to the main house. He goes after her and runs into Abby and his brother and Abby goes up to talk to Dani. Dani has a decision to make; either be up truthful with Michael or hide behind her insecure feelings of not being loved. What will she decide?
