Plot Summary of Alfred Hitchcock: A Life in Darkness and Light
""Alfred Hitchcock: A Life in Darkness and Light" chronicles the entirety of the legendary director's life, focusing much on the notable films that he made during his long career. Starting with his days in England, as the child of a higher-than-average middle class working family, the book tells about his early and attention-garnering years as a director in England, his move to Hollywood, his "bouts" with producer David O. Selznick, his innovative directing technique, his triumphant films of the 1950's and 1960's, and his influence on numerous other filmmakers. The book also features fascinating information about his relationship with his beloved wife Alma, daughter Pat, and the actors that had the pleasure of working under his direction (Cary Grant, James Stewart, Grace Kelly, and Ingrid Bergman, to name a few).

The book is divided into six parts with each part containing two-three chapters, respectively. The chapters are arranged chronologically and the book contains thirty-two pages of photographs in the center. A comprehensive appendix compiles Hitchcock's filmography and television credits."
