| Plot Summary of Into the Fire |
"Sable Duchesne gets caught in a fire in which a prominent New Orleans politician, Marc LeClare is killed. As the only witness and survivor of the fire, Sable is brought in to be questioned by Detectives Terri Vincent and J.D. Gamble, who happens to be her ex-lover. Sable refuses to give any further details about the information and gets hit on the head during a confrontation with the media. J.D. then brings her to a hospital where a man tries to kill her. She escapes to the swamp-she's a Cajun-by stealing a car and J.D. follows her. There she confronts Caine, a man who is secretly in love with her, and accuses him of murdering LeClare. He denies it and J.D. arrives to take her away. During the drive back to the city, someone tries to shoot them and their car swerves into the swamp. Thankfully, they manage to rescue themselves and Sable brings them to her grandmother's place to hide. Soon Sable reveals her secret to J.D. and he works to figure out the identity of LeClare's murderer. In the meantime, J.D. decides to renew his relationship with Sable (he is still in love with her) and despite her initial protests, they end up in bed (more than once). "
