Plot Summary of State of Fear
"Peter Evans is an ordinary young attorney, a junior associate of the law firm representing wealthy philanthropist George Morton, a major donor to environmentalists organizations. Mr. Evans believes all the things that he has been told that he should believe, such as the immediate and catastrophic danger of global warming. As events unfold, Mr. Evans receives a practical as well as scholarly education.

A shadowy F.B.I. or C.I.A. character emerges, on the trail of eco terrorists who are in league with the environmentalists in an effort to cause catastrophies in various parts of the world to prove the effects of global warming. He whisks Peter Evans with him, along with two lovely ladies, to various parts of the globe trying to foil these plots.

There is a warning throughout the book against wild enthusiasms, corrupted science, and believing everything you hear. The book contains charts, graphs, footnotes, and an extensive bibliography. "

Dixie Dodd, Resident Scholar

"State of Fear opens with a murder of a scientist that has created a model of tidal waves. From there on, mysterious objects are being bought by an unknown person. All of these events link up to be part of a very deadly plan that makes a group of scientists think they can control the enviroment.

Things start heating up as Peter Evan's client, George Morton evidentally dies in a car accident. Evans teams up with Morton's friend Sarah and enviromentalist, Kenner and his friend Sanjong. The four of them stop many dangerous "natural" storms such as a flood that ruins a school picnic.

Once the four of them start piecing everything together, they find themselves in the jungles of Africa to face a dangerous native tribe where they are captured. They manage to escape from the tribe and in the process are able to find Morton who did not die after all. They are then chased by the tribe over a river filled with crocodiles. Eventually they make it to the beach and find out what the enemy has planned to finally finish off the world."

Pierce Klas, Resident Scholar

"George Morton is a multi-millionaire philanthropist and Peter Evans his ideological lawyer in this eco-thriller by Michael Chrichton. On the verge of major international envirnomental symposiums, Morton orders his lawyer to pull all funding from the green groups he has been helping for years. Morton then disappears in a fiery crash and leaves Evans fighting for his life against eco-terrorists.

Aided by government spook, John Kenner and a handful of others, Evans discovers that the National Envirnmental Resource Fund has been gathering technology and placing it around the world with the intention of setting off global catastrophes to validate their existence and purpose.

The plot speeds toward an edge of the seat ride between environmental extremeists and the few people who know what they are up to. "

Darryl Brooks, Resident Scholar
