Plot Summary of Moving Mama to Town
"When Freddy's dad disappears, he becomes the head of the family. He moves to town and tries to find a job, eventually working at a bar and doing odd jobs for the town's wealthy in order to make ends meet.

Freddy eventually saves up enough money to move his mother and the rest of his family to town, where she sews, does laundry, and sells cake to make more money. Freddy meets a girl and gets his first girlfriend, and also deal with his picky and sometimes callous boss who has a stomach ulcer.

Freddy promises his mother that he will never be like his Daddy, who was a drunk who eventually left so he could fight in WWII."
