Plot Summary of Send No Flowers
"Trying to be both mother and father to her boys Alicia Russell arranges a camping trip using a friend's cabin. They arrive in a thunderstorm, to find the cabin without electricity and Alicia has not brought along a flashlight. Fortunately they are rescued by their neighbor Pierce Reynolds who offers to share his cabin for the night until power can be restored. Alicia is hesitant since Pierce is a total stranger but her boys form an instant bond with Pierce and Alicia finds herself spending the night in Pierce's cabin. Then next day she finds that a tree has fallen on the cabin she is borrowing and there are no other accommodations available. When she says they are going to have to forget their trip both boys become very angry and again it is Pierce to the rescue.
Sharing a cabin with a man you are attracted to is difficult and Alicia finds herself unable to resist temptation even though Pierce insists that their relationship can never go any farther than casual sex. Once she is back home Alicia tries to put her feelings for Pierce behind her but it is impossible when her boys keep dragging him back into their lives.
When Pierce finally admits to her that he can't persue a more permanent relationship because he might have a fatal disease and he is awaiting the final diagnosis, then he sends Alicia away. Even though she loves him Alicia leaves fearing she couldn't stand to lose someone else she loves. She decides that some time with Pierce is better than none at all so she sets out to see if she can convince him.
