| Plot Summary of The Nursing Home Fugitive |
"A stroke has robbed Clive Parisi of his short-term memory. To function he records everything that happens in a journal and paints his long-term memories with vivacity and passion. Equipped with these two new abilities but minus a critical old one, he runs away from the nursing home, embarking on a journey that will be his last but his best.
Free of the nursing home, he heads for his old war buddy Sam in the small town of Sublime in Texas, intent on confronting an unresolved issue with his friend before he dies. Time is short and he suffers more debilitating strokes, which threaten to cut the mission short before he has a chance to fulfill his last wish. Meanwhile, his worried step-daughter Arlene is in hot pursuit, tracing his steps, his paintings and his encounters with colorful characters across the vast expanse of Texas.
