Plot Summary of Let It Bleed
"Inspector John Rebus chases two teenage kids driving a car across the Forth Bridge high over the ocean north of Edinburgh. The two kids jump off the bridge. One of the kids knew the daughter of a high ranking politician. That daughter is missing.

At the same time a former convict enters the office of an ambitious Edinburgh city councilman and shoots himself in front of the councilman. Rebus begins to see connections between the suicides and the missing girl all of which raise questions about corrupt city politics. Rebus gets warned to back off or lose his job. Exposing corruption could lead to loss of jobs in the city.

This is book 8 in the Inspector Rebus series which looks at politics and employment in Edinburgh."
