| Plot Summary of From Where I'm Standing |
"Simone Carter is a 30 year old neurosurgeon whose father was killed in a violent family store robbery. She also has to deal with her two brothers Sammy and Chris who are doing time for drug selling, assault, and possession. Although she is very sucessful in her career, her personal life is crumbling.
When Chris later dies as well, her mental state is stretched to the limit. Afraid that he will eventually leave her too, she rejects her boyfriend Cedric's marriage proposal and completely cuts him off. Simone begins to see everyone as a potential threat to her sanity. She is forced to take time away from her practice and is finally convinced by her best friend Janae to seek therapy.
In therapy she meets Kevin, who falls in love with her. She believes she's found someone who understands what she's gone through. But when she finds out the truth about Kevin, she is taken to another level of self-awareness and trust."
