| Plot Summary of Jennifer Murdley's Toad |
"When Jennifer Murdley buys a toad from weird Mr. Elives' Magic Shop her ordinary life takes a sudden turn for the weird. Her new friend ends up being Bufo, a "tongue toad," who can speak in any voice and imitate any sound. Bufo uses his vocal talents to help Jennifer get even with a school bully, but ends up causing more trouble when he discovers he can turn humans into toads by kissing them. Even worse, Jennifer learns Bufo is being pursued by a witch who wants to steal the magic jewel hidden in his forehead. When the witch kidnaps Jennifer's little brother and demands Jennifer give her Bufo in exchange for her brother's freedom, Jennifer must find a way to save her brother and break Bufo's toad spell. "
