| Plot Summary of Three Rotten Eggs |
"Another month or so has passed since the events in Four Stupid Cupids. Once again the Tattletales and Copycats are competing, this time to collect the most eggs in the Easter Egg Hunt to raise money for a new fire engine for the town of Hamlet, Vermont. Also, a new kid has come to town: a big and somewhat mean lunk from the city named Thaddeus Nero Tweed (he calls himself "Thud"), who perpetually lies and sows dissension between the other kids. In addition, three eggs from an experiment designed to generate evolutionary throwbacks (chickens with lizard-like tendencies, although they turn out to breathe fire too!) turn up in the mix. Who is Thud's mother, the mysterious Mrs. Tweed? Will the mad scientists find and confiscate the special eggs and the creatures they hatch? And how will Miss Earth respond to the fights and lying that take hold among her students? This is the fifth book in Maguire's Hamlet Chronicles series, which just keeps getting better."
David Loftus, Resident Scholar
